What is Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is considered a functional disorder with no known cause. Symptoms include abdominal pain, bloating, and altered bowel movement. Others symptoms may include nausea and mucus on stool.

IBS has three subtypes:

C-IBS: constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome

A-IBS: alternating between constipation and diarrhoea irritable bowel syndrome

D-IBS: diarrhoea predominant irritable bowel syndrome
