What is Asthma?
Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disorder of the airways in the lungs. Symptoms of asthma include:
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath
- Wheezing
- Tightness in the chest
Symptoms can be mild or severe, flare up suddenly and disappear for long periods of time, and vary from person to person.
The cause of asthma is unknown, but one hypothesis suggests that an overactive immune system may be partly to blame.
